With increasing interest in eco-friendly technologies, we now have our own "Renewables" division offering installation of solar panels for domestic and commercial customers.
Solar Photovoltaic (PV) panels offer a cost-effective way to generate your own clean electricity and earn money from the Government's Feed-In Tariff Scheme (FITs).
Savings can be considerable.
A 2.88 kWp system can generate around 40% of an average household's yearly electricity needs. If the system is eligible to receive the Feed-In Tariff it could generate savings and income of around £731 per year. The same system will also save around 1 tonne of CO2 a year.

Feed-in Tariff scheme
Feed-in Tariffs (FITs) became available in Great Britain on 1st April 2010. Northern Ireland is currently not included although this is under review.
Under this scheme energy suppliers are obliged to make regular payments to householders and communities who generate their own electricity from solar electricity panels (PV).
The scheme guarantees a minimum payment for all electricity generated by the system, as well as a separate payment for the electricity exported to grid. These payments are in addition to the bill savings made by using the electricity generated.
The scheme is also designed so that if you take out a loan to pay for the installation, you should still save money.
Warranty
Solar PV modules carry a product warranty of 10 years with a guaranteed performance of 90% after 10 years and 80% after 25 years, with an expected life of around 40 years. Inverters carry a 5 year warranty with many manufacturers offering the opportunity to extend this for a further period
VAT
Domestic installations benefit from a reduced VAT amount of 5%.
Commercial installations attract a VAT rate of 20% and VAT registered companies will be able to reclaim VAT as normal.

- The Earth receives more energy from the sun in an hour than is used in the entire world in one year.
- Roughly 0.3 per cent of the world's land area would be required to supply all of the world's energy requirements
